TMJ
The temporal mandibular joint - TMJ - is located
just in front of your ear. It is a joint that
you use constantly throughout the day, often (as
when clenching) when you are not aware of it.
In this office, our doctors have acquired a very
thorough understanding of the anatomy, physiology
and function of the temporal mandibular joint
and the muscles surrounding it.
Problems with this joint not only affect your
teeth and how they look and function, but may
also be responsible for intense headaches, migraine
headaches, eye aches and ear aches.
If the TMJ is not correctly aligned, there may
be abnormal popping sound as the improper balancing
of the muscles interfere with the patient's teeth.
With proper diagnosis, we can initiate corrective
treatment which includes occlusal equilibration,
occlusal splints and night guards.
